Vanilla Twilight ;
The blonde never was good at hide-and-seek, her hair always seemed to give her away. It was no different this time, she figured. It was the reason he found her. Maybe though, instead of cursing for him finding her when she was weak, maybe she should be thanking him. After all, he was the reason she was able to get out of the classroom.
“I’m used to things like that,” She explained, a sad smile evident in her soft and quiet voice, “You don’t need to be sorry.” The stares she always got as people gazed into her eyes for a few seconds at most, the rumors about her, all of it was normal enough for her.
The way his words rolled off his tongue made her blue eyes close slightly. She did this to him. She is the reason for his pain. “It was my fault anyway—” For someone who wanted to keep the gift giving a secret for as long as possible, Yume was doing a great job of it. She paused for a second, trying to word her words properly. “I learned that gift giving isn’t done like that. It’s a learning experience.”
So now the jig was up. He knew it was her, giving him a gift that was peculiar at least. Who gives someone a baseball as a present? “It was my fault something like that happened anyway. Sorry. Seems your day hasn’t been very entertaining because of me. I should have known. Doing something like that was a nuisance.” Her hands unconsciously moved towards her jacket pocket where, along with her cellphone, lay a tiny kaleidoscope that the store clerk had included. She had planned to give that to Aries at a different point in time, but could never figure out when.
A silent giggle left her mouth at his last comment. She should have counted how many times he apologized to her. Slowly walking over to the edge of the bookshelf, with her hands, she held onto the edge as she peaked her head out, only the top half of her head and eyes showing. “If I didn’t want to see Aries the Worry Wart, I wouldn’t have stayed.” She blinked, giving him full eye contact to show she meant every word.
Pulling her head back behind the bookshelf, she grabbed the kaleidoscope, returning to looking at Aries through the corner of the bookshelf. Extending her hand with the item in it towards him, she muttered softly. “Here. As apology for this morning.” She told him, dropping it in his hand and then retrieving her hand back to the edge of the bookshelf.
“Now if you say the words ‘I’m sorry’ one more time, you’ll owe me. Oh, and don’t think I’ve forgotten about you lying to me.” She teased softly, trying to lighten his mood.
She really was changing around him. Her title as ‘ice queen’ seemed almost non-existant at the moment. Putting up her facade again, she hoped he was alright as she gazed down at her feet in embarrassment behind the bookshelf.
Her words sounded sad. It was indeed a thing that sounded really saddening to get used to. But his lips sealed in silence, taking his time to listen to her painful words, sealing his thoughts for his own.
He smiled at her revelation of the gift. A slight chuckle emitting from his lips. “Ah~ I thought it’d be you, that baseball.” His grey eyes glazed a gentle shine at the thought of the small item that was now safely kept in his school bag, back at the classroom. “I was going to ask you about that later but… Thank you.” his tone warm and gentle as he worded his gratitude for her. “I’ll be sure to treasure it.”
A slight ring of laughter emitting from his throat at yet another addition to his growing list of nicknames from her. What was next? “Oi, oi, another on—”
his words cut short at the offering hand that had the small item, ready to hand it out to him. A slight tint grew on the young man’s cheeks as he hesitantly reached out and received the gift from her. He wasn’t always this fortunate as to receive the feelings of gratitude when receiving a present. The usual gifts he got never really interest him in the least but today, twice he felt this growing warmth within his chest. A grin stretched across his lips at the sight of what was in his hand; a kaleidoscope.
“So you’re apologizing to me for giving me a gift by giving me another?” another chuckle at the irony of it. “I haven’t had one of these since…”
since his mother bought it for him in elementary school. His words paused at the brief flash to the past but immedietly returning the smile to his tone as he continued “Since elementary, haha.” he turned around to give her a warm smile. “Thank you…”

A slight teasing smirk at her warning. “I have absolutely… no idea what you are talking about.”
